Starting school is a milestone in the lives of all children and their parents! The induction process is a series of visits and meetings designed to make starting school as smooth as possible for you and your child. The process usually takes place during the summer term and the beginning of the autumn term.
- Parent Teacher Interview. Parents are invited to come into school to meet with their child’s Classteacher and discuss their child’s stage of development, likes and dislikes.
- First visit. This is an opportunity for you to spend some time together with your child in the classroom and meet the Classteacher and teaching assistant.
- Second visit. Your child will stay with their Classteacher while parents have a presentation by the Headteacher about ‘School Organisation’ etc.
- Third visit. The same as the second visit but this time the presentation is on “Children’s Learning’ by the Deputy Head.
Children stating school full-time in September
Starting school full-time can be very tiring for young children and for this reason for the first full week of school the children attend mornings only 9.00-12.00. Full-time sessions start the following week from 9.00 - 3.10pm. Your child can stay for lunch, either a hot cooked meal or a baguette, they may bring their own packed lunch or they may go home for lunch. For more information about school lunches click here
Children stating school part-time in September
Having completed the induction programme the children will be ready to start their part-time sessions. The timing of the part-time school day varies according to the pupil numbers and staffing requirements. Times will be confirmed by letter during the summer term. In September 2010 the sessions will be mornings from 9:00 – 12:00. |
