Please can your child bring a named water bottle with water, no squash each day. A book bag that will fit into a small tray containing their diary and books on Fridays. All pencils, pens and other stationery are provided individually for each child. Please ensure your child has wellies and waterproof clothing that stays in school.
Two books will be given to the children to take home at the beginning of each week. Please would you read these books and keep them at home and write in the reading diaries. Books then need to be returned on Fridays and will be kept in ‘quarantine’ until the beginning of the following week. Children will then be given new books to take home on a Monday. School staff will stamp the reading diaries next to your entries. We will endeavour to hear children read individually each week. When children move up a level in reading, they will receive a special sticker from Mr Goodier.
Your child will have a phonics lesson each day to learn new sounds and letters which then help them with reading and writing. On a Friday the children’s sounds of the week will be sent home, please practise these with your child and stick them in their jolly phonics book. (Will be given out on the 16th of October.) Each week the children will complete a handwriting activity in class. You will then receive a follow up activity to practise the letter formation with your child at home.
Children have agreed rules for their class. Children who follow these rules or make especial effort at school, will be rewarded with Dojos. Children can also receive stickers and certificates and, on Fridays, a new Lunchtime Superstar is chosen for each class.
Each half -term the children will be taught about a different topic. Please see the curriculum section of our website for more information on topics.
To maintain social distancing at the beginning and end of the day, if you need to speak with the teacher, please would you send an email/letter through the school office or phone us to make an appointment.
